On the whole, I rather enjoyed it. There were parts where I rolled my eyes and went, "Of course Moffat wrote this" because there are some beats that he is very much in love with, but, along with The Night of the Doctor, it's nice to know that he can still write a story I can enjoy for the most part

More spoiler-y stuff.Collapse )

Okay, now that I am on something that is NOT my phone, thoughts!Collapse )

I have to admit, I have a ton of issues with Moffat, but he really knocked it out of the park with this one. I haven't been this giddy over telly DW since, god, the end of The Stolen Earth. It's a lovely feeling.

Oh my giddy aunt you guys

I am just going to leave this here with no commentary.

I know, I know, it's been ages since I last posted, but there is a new Doctor and I needed to mark it down somehow, haha. I am actually quite surprised at how glad I am that they've gone older for Twelve.

Now all I have to do is actually get around to watching the last series so that I am caught up for when he shows up. ... ugh I hate my completist tendencies, I actually do want to see Clara but can't bring myself to slog through the episodes before her.

So, it's been a while.

Of the three shows I was watching in my last post, I've pretty much decided to drop Revenge. I cannot believe how quickly I've gotten over the show, but I haven't really been liking this season all too much, not the least because I absolutely hate Aiden and hope he would just go away. Ugh. Still watching Once Upon a Time and Elementary, though I'm a couple of episodes behind on the former. Have absolutely come to adore the latter though. JLM and Lucy Liu continue to have excellent chemistry and are wonderful to watch on screen, both together and apart. Have also come to enjoy Aidan Quinn and Jon Michael Hill as well, and am actually hoping that we get more of Bell in the future. Also looking forward to John Hannah appearing soon!

Those are really the only two shows I'm regularly watching right now, though I have just finished watching Downton Abbey series three. That was a Blu-ray binge though. Unlike others I know of, I'm still enjoying the show and will be on board with the next series. It's ridiculous, yes, but still entertaining.

In non-fannish news, I got a new job in October. My ninety days was up the other week and since they like me, they've decided to keep me. Yay! The bank's also finally approved the sale of our house, so we should be closing soon. Another yay! Hopefully, our house in the Philippines will also be sold soon, we have a buyer and everything, just need to get some legal matters cleared away. Triple yay!

I have finally watched the Elementary pilot! And I loved the chemistry between Miller and Liu! Yes! So this is staying on my dvr list and I have a new Sherlock Holmes adaptation to watch! I'm not that into tv procedurals, but I'm hoping that the fact that SH is my fandom exception in other areas (see: I am a Doylist when I am Watsonian in everything else, I will readily buy pastiches and anthologies when I don't like to for other shows) will mean that I can stay with this despite that.

I am also looking forward to Sunday! Because Once Upon a Time and Revenge. I finished the first season of Revenge in two days, everyone, it is so addicting. Nolan is my favorite in everything. And I can't wait for OUaT because I love it. It isn't great television by far, but it's very enjoyable. I'm a bit out of the fandom loop, I think, because I have no cares for Rumplestiltskin/Belle and I like Regina as a villain but have no idea how people can woobiefie her, and my favorites are the Charmings. Because, damn, the Charming family hits a certain love of mine and I can't wait for their reunion. Also, Prince Phillip. Also also, I can't wait to find out who Doctor Whale is.

I know that I’ve posted around a handful of times this year, but I had to mark the occasion: ten years ago today, I signed up for LJ. Damn.

Ten whole years. Who ever thought I’d still be on this site ten years later? (And, yes, I actually am on, just, err. On anon memes.)

I’ve been meaning to write more these past couple of months, but time just kinda got away from me. It’s been, well, eventful. My dad died in July and I’ve been spending a lot of time with family (both immediate and extended) since. Been back to SJ and Sac a couple of times over the summer, and then to San Diego and LA the past several weeks. I got to meet my cousin's son for the first time in SD, and my cousin Gem's back from Japan, so we met up in LA which was good.

The biggest change to my family came three weeks after my dad died, though, and that was the birth of my niece. She would have been my dad’s first grandchild. (His funeral was close to her expected due date, and my brother joked that it would be just like our dad to make him miss her birth, since our dad missed mine.) She’s absolutely, absolutely beautiful, and I think everyone around me is probably sick over how much I gush over her, haha. So I've spending even more time at my brother and sil's house since she was born.

I've been watching a lot of HGTV and Netflix lately. I'm catching up on Once Upon a Time and Nikita right now, and I have a bunch of other things on my queue to get to. Wondering if I should get into Revenge before the new season starts. Haven't watched the newest episodes of Doctor Who, and not actually sure when I'll get around to that, oh well.

Other than that, not really doing much else.

For some reason, I suddenly got the urge to watch BSG over the weekend. So I've been rewatching that. I've only actually watched the series up until the end of the third season, so maybe this time I'll actually get to the fourth season? Pegasus is the next episode on my watch list, I would have watched it tonight but I had a meeting to get to after work and I only felt like watching one episode after, so. Admiral Cain gets to wait until tomorrow.

So, I knew the first time around that Helo/Athena was my favorite ship from the show, but I never actually realized how much I really otp them until this rewatch. I mean, oh wow, they make me flail-y. I mean, really, really flail-y. High sounds and waving of the arms in the air and all. Honestly, I should have realized they were otp-for-life when I broke my absolutely no spoilers! policy for BSG -- I've always known that I'd finish it one day... -- a while back just to make sure that they had a happy ending. Because if they didn't, I wanted to be prepared for it. Yeah, really should have realized it then, haha.

Also, I don't mind Starbuck as much this time. Because I really didn't like her before, but I think she's finally growing on me.

So, the thing is, I am actually still on LJ. Just not, umm, having anything much to write about? Still not really fandom-y about anything, though in the last month I've started watching White Collar and (finally!) Downton Abbey. I like both, but, again, not very fannish over them.

This year marks the ten year anniversary of this journal. Which, wow, pretty amazing. Who would have thought when I first signed up for an LJ that I'd still be here a decade later?
